Earnest Taylor, Jr. was born May 11, 1929 to Earnest Taylor and Martha Annie Monroe Taylor. Earnest attended Gravel Hill Elementary in Manor. In his lifetime he worked for the City of Austin and Manor Downs. He accepted Christ at an early age at Park Springs Baptist Church. He met the love of his life, Bernice Houston, who became his wife, and they had eight children, Herman Lee Taylor (Jackie), Earnest Taylor III, Martha A. Taylor Jackson, Alice F. Poole (Lynn), Myra E. Taylor, Paula J. Cunningham (John), Otha Earls (Chester), Linda Owens (deceased). Surviving siblings include Alice Williams (James), Earlene Williams, Ruby Shaw (Hughie), Dorothy Walker (Jafus), Ida Mae Jackson, Willie Taylor and Sonny Taylor; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
